98 E430 recommended engine oil

There is no mention of any of the fluids in the owners manual. How frustrating. Anyway what is the recommended engine oil grade for a 98 E430. Note I live in Montreal and the winters can be quite cold.

MB has seperate lubrication manual...that car & ALL MB's 1998 & later should use synthetic oil... 0W30 all the way upto 5W50

You can get a lubrication chart from MBSUA AT 1-800 FOR MERC

Look at the chart, its been posted here many times. Up in Canada what is availible is probably different then what is around here.

When in doubt with a newer MB use Mobil 1 0w40, thats what all the dealers use around here.

Here you go:

Mobil 1 0W40 is the oil of my choice, as well as my M-B dealers.

Thanks for the information. I do not seem to find Mobil 1 0W40 at Walmart or Canadian tire. 5W30 Mobil 1 synthetic is available as well as 5W30 Quaker state is available. Are these grades any good. Which stores are you'll getting Mobil 1 0W40 in Canada.

Thanks

I get mine at my friendly M-B dealer.
It's the same price as Canadian Tire.
The only Canadian Tire Store where I ever have seen this oil is in Milton.

The "recommended engine oil" for EVERY engine you own is Mobil 1.
