horsepower chip for 92 s600 and other cars?

Hey guys I got a 92 s 600, and I was wondering about hp chips? Are they good? NO good? Damage anything? Just wanted some advice, and what you thought about this one?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Will70724,

Got one for my 92 500SEL. I like it, significant start up improvement, and highway acceleration. Mileage seems to have improved slightly. Better idle feel and i'm told the speed limiter is gone. Installed it myself within an hour. Satisfied with the mod.

Good Luck,
Roger

Thanks pcmaher, I went to the thread you linked me and the guy with the site linked it doesnt work? Im thinking about getting one of these and it says it gives you 10-15% more horsepower which would be crazy.

10 percent would give me about 445 horsepower

and 15 percent would give me like 465 horsepower which is outstanding.

can anyone tell me who did it how easy it was? And the basic step what they did? Im assuming the chip is someone in the ignition or on the engine and it would be a swap? Is there anything I can do wrong or mess up?

Thanks.

Hey Will,

The chip on my 500 was inside the Computer. They give you very detailed instructions on how to replace it. You must take care or you could damage something. From what i understand on your model there are actually 2 chips that need replacement. Not impossible but due care must be taken.

Good Luck,
Roger

That's too bad that the site isn't working. I know Merc600sec was very satisfied with his upgrade. Roger is correct, the V12 needs two chips. It figures, right? All V12 owners have a ton of extra money . One thing to take note of...if you do this, you should take a lot of care making sure you ground yourself. If you're familiar with handling IC chips and preventing ESD damage, then you know what to do. Any static shock, even low levels you won't feel, can damage the chips or the modules. Be Careful!
