Urgent advice required (crankshaft fitment)

Hi all, I am trying to complete my 3.0L M103 to 3.6L M104 engine swap before my mechanic closes for the holiday period.
I need to buy either a 2.8L or 3.2L M104 engine with HFM fuel system to use with my AMG C36 crankshaft.
My mechanic called the head office and they say only engines within the following sequence will work:
104xxx xx 006000 - 104xxx xx 008999
Can anyone confirm or dispute this?
The problem is I've searched dozens of engines here in Australia and can't find any in this range.
I found data for a C36 on the web which has a VIN WDB2020282F175027 and engine number 104941 22 036294. This is at odds with the engine sequence given but my mechanic says since the engine was prepared by AMG the rule won't apply.
PLEASE HELP!
