e320 fan regulator problems???
i have a 1996 e320 that's having a fan problem, i set the fan speeds up and down and nothing seems to happen, i can feel the heat but the fan motor is not engaging or blowing heat/air...regulator problem - fan motor problem or both??? i read something about a regulator for a 140 will fix it...
thx roger |
Very likely the regulator. You can try disconnecting the regulator and applying 12V directly to the fan motor to test it.
If the motor is bad, you'll have to find a good used one, or update all of the parts. If the regulator is bad (and you think your motor will keep functioning), you can adapt the a 140 regulator. |
unfortunately you have the dreaded 96/97 210 body.you need to replace both the blower and the regulator.about $800 for parts.

As mattl pointed out there is a retrofit you can perfrom.
My reg gives me problems occasionally, not enough that I am willing to change it at this point. I find turning the ingition off and on again results in the reg working again usually. At some point this will no longer work and I'll be replacing everything. |

..you may want to check the ignition switch. |

I would rather r&r the ignition switch than do the fan/reg assembly. How/what would one be testing the ignition for? |
