door lock ket entry

i have a 1996 e320 , i'm having a problem with the key entry, at one point i could lock and unlock the doors from the drivers side door with a key, now i can only open and close the car through the trunk,,,, ...any ideas???

My door cylinder was inoperative when I got my car. There was a small pin missing between the cylinder and an actuating bar inside the door. I replaced it with a small split pin.

The door cylinder comes out with a single screw, accessible behind the rubber weatherstripping which must be pulled from its groove in the door frame.

matt...at one point you could feel the lock mechanics working and after going through a car wash the lock doesn't feel the same, it feels like it's not connected to anything,,,so you think a pin fell out of the lock and it's not engaging the rod for the doors???

i had the door panel off and it looks like a bugger to get too

I suspect that the same pin could have dislodged. Removing the interior door panel is not required or helpful for this job.
