95 E320 keyless entry

I want to install a keyless entry system on my 95 E320. I have the factory alarm and window convenience feature. (windows roll up when key is held in the lock position) Is there a system that will preserve the function of these features? I have done a search but haven't found any answers. I also looked at the DIY article by Benzmac but it doesn't say if these functions are available after the install.

Thanks.

The first question would be did the car ever come with remotes, the parts guys should tell you, if so order remotes from them, they come with keys. $150 or so.

Thanks for the replies.

Peter Guenther: My vehicle never had a keyless entry system. (thanks for the suggestion though)

Joga Bonito: Thanks for link. Looks like you have a very nice 500. Could you tell me the brand and model of the keyless unit you installed? Also, did you consider the window roll up feature?

Thanks.

Actually that's Rik Johnson's 500E, I just use his page for information like this and to DIY/troubleshoot issues with my two girls. sorry. I believe Rik has his email on there, you can try that.

It's been a while since I started this thread--thought I'd provide an update.

I exchanged emails with several US ebay sellers, none of them could tell me what type of output signals their units provided. I also exchanged emails with some German Ebay sellers, same story, although the German Ebay sellers seemd to have more information available on the item description. I also spoke to a few alarm shops and concluded they should be avoided. No one seemed to really understand the MB lock system.

I finally did buy a unit from a German Ebay site. It was advertised as having a window rollup signal. This signal turned out to be a "semiconductor sink to ground" (not the positive supply advertised in the item description) It did work to rollup the windows and arm the alarm but I decided not to use it. Because the 30 second signal was present with every lock, it caused excessive relay clicking.

I ended up building a time delay circuit to duplicate what happens when you turn and/or hold the key in the lock or unlock position. The time delays are triggered by the outputs of the remote unit. I can now lock/unlock doors and rollup/rolldown windows via the remote.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking....lots of effort for a keyless entry, but it's what keeps me entertained. I attached a couple pictures. One of the circuit in breadboard form, the other two in finished form. If there is any interest I'll provide a schematic. Total parts cost is less than $10.00, the remote unit from the German Ebay site was about 38 Euro including shipping.

I'm interested in more info - a schematic and the auction that you purchased the keyless entry from.

I have a keyless entry kit that I got about 3 years ago on ebay.de. The rubber cover to the lock/unlock buttons has stretched out and fallen off one of the two key fobs so I'm looking to replace the whole unit this summer.

Great work getting the roll-up to work BTW!

Try this link for the ebay seller.

You get to choose the remote style and the type of key blanks included. If you can't read German, you might need to get someone to help.....

Be warned, a fair amount of modification was required to make this work. I'll post more, but writing it all up will take a little time....
