Oil Filter Socket for OM642 (320CDI) Engine

Does anyone have a source for the socket to filt the oil filter cannister/cover on the OM642 engine used in the E320CDI, GL320CDI and ML320CDI? It looks exactly like the one on my M113 (G500) engine, but is a larger diameter.

I emailed Samstag, but they said they have no service info on this engine.

Anyone? TIA!

Thanks, but the filter housing on that particular diesel is a whole lot bigger around than the gasoline engines and other diesels for that matter.

Since its so new, try the dealer. The socket for the M104's oil cap is only like $30.

The socket you need is available from any MB dealer. The part number is 642-589-00-09-00. I don't know how much it sells for.

If you're changing the oil on your BLUETEC, make sure you use an approved oil. The OM642 requires a low SPAsh multi-grade oil(Sheet 229.51)due to the Diesel Particulate Filter. Castrol, Mobil 1, Shell, and Valvoline all make approved products, but read the label to be certain it's low SPAsh.
