While relpacing the cruise amp on the 87 300TDT, I had the pad under the steering wheel removed and I noticed a vacuum line loose right next to the ignition (to the right). Checked the two lines going into the switch itself, but they were both there. This loose line has a rubber fitting on it, so I figure that it goes somewhere really close by.
A/C, door locks, glow system, shifting, all works, but I figure that this line isn't just hanging out for no reason. The line is brown or black, and the connector is black. Any takers? Steve |

On my 82 sedan, there is a black line under the dash and It is also not connected. I am told the black line under dash on driver's side is there to vent the system and is not intended to be attached. I hope this helps.

Yes, the proportioning valve on the back of the injection pump (or side of injection pump in the 603 case)is a controlled leak. It might not be good to suck air from the area under the hood (dirt, oil, rain, etc., etc.). They ran the leak line into the dash to pull clean air.
