1994 S500L Key will not turn in ignition

This morning when I tried to start the car, the key does not turn at all. Would anyone know, how this could happen without any warning?
Appreciate your help.

Did you try turning the steering wheel back and forth while you tried to turn the key ? A lot of times that is the only problem.
