M120 crankcase ventilation
Rear main seal is leaking on my 2000 SL600. Dealer thinks that the engine may not be breathing/venting. My local dealer is 100 miles away and the car is not drivable.
The car will not leak a drop idling, but when you race up the engine, oil starts dripping from the rear center of engine. Does anybody know what I need to check to make sure the crankcase has proper ventilation? Thanks, Al |
i am not familiar with your particular engine, but most engines, if you open the oil filler cap you will get an idea of blow by. to push oil out a seal would take a massive amount of it.
in fact i cannot imagine a scenario in which crankcase pressure could do so. i could be wrong i suppose. tom w |
Al, send me your e-mail address. I have some info that may help.
