1986 420sel

i bought a 420 sel for my daughter and notice the the other day that the part that is circled in white has been unplugged
when i do plug it back in it ticks like crazy
please excuse my ignorance, learning as i go
could someone give me indea what this part is please
i have been searching the forums and have not had much luck
i did copy this pick from the forums though
thank you in advance for any help
