Trans. oil leak from a rubber thing.

Took pictures but could not post. Will try to I D.
It is about 1/2" in Dia. and about 1" long. It is a rubber bellows with a thin wire coming out of one end and the other end is screwed into the back of the trans. on the drivers side. It is above the muffler bracket. The oil is leaking from the rubber thing. Is this an easy fix,and where does that wire go? It looks like the wire goes into a bundle of other wires.

I forgot what it is. But I have taken it out before when I removed my tranny 2 years ago. Its probably a speed sensor, nuetral safety switch, reverse light switch but who cares just take it out and find out whats leaking o ring etc.

That is the kickdown solenoid wire. It just pulls straight back/out. Replace the o-ring on it.

Should i pull the rubber boot back and then pull the wire out of the plastic housing. Is that where the O-ring is?

Hi As I said its the kick down seloniod that works off the switch under the gas pedal. At the end of the wire there is a female plug that goes over a pin,on the back side of the pin is a seal, however I have seen the housings cracked and cause the leak. The selonoid is about $65 dollars and is held in with a big banjo bolt that also has a seal on it,you must wash it down and see were its leaking from, before you throw parts at it.Joeym

I will wash it down and if i can locate the leak.

Replaced all [3] O- rings on the bolt that goes thru the selonoid and No Leaks. Total Cost 11.25. Man i LOVE this site. Thanks
