w124 Front Fender Removal - Anyone have details?

Does anyone have the steps from the service manual, or, a good detailed set of instructions on removing the front fender from a 1995 w124 E320?

Thanks.

Jeff

Yes, anyone that has the Mercedes service CD has it.

You can too, for less than $50 by calling 1-800-for-merc

BTDT, with the left front on my '95 E300D, due to a deer hit. This is not a job you need a manual for. Just get in there and start unscrewing bolts. I think the trickiest ones are where you open the door, just due to wrench/socket access. When I reassembled mine I left one off there, no big deal. Some bolts under the fender are a bit fiddly, but overall this is not a big deal.

Remove the headlight assembly, and the turn indicator lamp ass'y. The turn indicator lamp ass'y is held in by a simple sort of springy bit on the inside of the fender, which might not be obvious until you see how it works. Actually, now that I think of it, I think you can pull the fender without taking out the turn signal (you'll have to unplug it, obviously), but it's easier to remove without it in place.

Anyway, if you've got any mechanical skill you can do this in a couple hours, easy.

Thanks for the extremely helpful reply Kent. I'll make sure that I file it away for future reference.

Chris. Thanks. I was not entirely sure if the w124 had adhesive as well as bolts securing the fenders as some of the other older models had.

C. Holmes. Thank you for the reply, but that question was from literally 18 years ago. Hope your user profile hasn't been hacked.
