Check Engine Light
 

:eek: engine electronics :eek: ....warning came up on my dash today...any one have this come up before, it's a 1996 e320...any idea what to check, i do not have a scanner to diagnose it...

You need to get it scanned so you know what code was tripped.

Some of the big box parts houses will do this for you no charge or a basic OBDII scanner can be purchased for ~$50-100 USD. It plugs in under the dash above the drivers left knee.

Hi Its analert to a engine management problem.You will need a good scan of all the systems ,the veh may have gone into a lime home mode,could be caused by trans to engine can problem ect,thats why a general code reader may not be good enough to pin point the problem.Joeym

Go to any garage that has an OBD II scantool.
I bought mine at Canadian Tire ( They sometimes have them on sale for $ 149.00 CDN ).
This tool can read most " Basic " emissions-related problems.
If the light is triggered for any other reason, ( transmission related problems, etc. ) ONLY an M-B dealer can retrieve and interpret them. ;)
