is anybody familiar with the cat part of the exhaust on the 500sec. (i assume it is the same as a 500sel).

it looks as if there is an enlarged part near where it bolts to the pipes off the manifolds. then it turns horizontal and gets larger before it terminates and the middle muffler and pipes begin.

if the second part is the cat i think i am screwed because it has a hole right before the enlarged part which i suspect is the cat. this sounds expensive.

anybody familiar and can make a comment?

Both are cats...the first is the pre cat.

Yes, it does sound expensive..but a talented shop should be able to repair the hole.
