02 CLK 430 - Conv Top Question
 

I have a green button in my trunk that is flashing. I press it and hear buzzes and clicks from the lock mechanism. Is this button supposed to flash or is it indicating something is wrong?

That's actually a safety release for anyone trapped in the trunk. All cars after a certain year have some sort of release, most are not as nice as what Benz has devised.

Not to kill the thread, but I have a very wealthy customer that had me and my brother in law install nifty cable set ups in the trunk of every one of his vehicles in case he is ever kidnapped and thrown in the trunk.

That way he can pop the trunk and jump out of the car going 100 mph and run into the woods before they shoot him should he survive the leap , of course.
Needless to say, he was happy when Mercedes started offering this feature you are speaking of.

the 84 500SEL i have had a pull cable for this too. I had never seen one in a car that old before.
