:MODERATOR EDIT ADDING DATA LINK:

I have a 1997 E320. As many others have experienced the front driver’s side spring perch on this vehicle failed. As I see it this is a huge Safety issue. I have tried to get help with the repair from Mercedes Benz at the dealership, up to the corporate level with nothing to show for my efforts. At this point I have opened a complaint with the NHTSA, and I could use your help. If you have experienced the same problem please email me with any of the following information that you have available and are willing to release. I can assure you that any information you provide will be used for and only for the purpose of furthering this attempt to obtain a recall. If this is successful there is a possibility that you might be able to be refunded part or all monies you may have already spent to have this repair performed.

Please send any information you are willing to release to to:
springperch@yahoo.com

Name
Date of incident
Model of Vehicle
Year of Vehicle
Mileage at Failure
Details of property damage
Narrative of relevant info
Who performed repair
What assistance, if any, Mercedes Benz provided
Location of dealership
Any photos available
Copies of invoices (please blank out any home addresses, credit card info….)

Please note: I have received a number of messages from people suggesting where to go to find more info. While I greatly appreciate all of your help, at this point I have no problem with that. I have been combing this and other MB sites for a few weeks. what I really need at this point is to compile a database to provide to the NHTSA to establish that this is not an isolated case but in face a common safety issue that many have experienced. he more I can get the stronger the case for a recall. Unfortunately it appears that very few of the people with this problem actually contacted NHTSA and therefore it has not received the attention it deserves.

Thank you for your help, together maybe we can make a change.
