Anybody know if there are any differences among standard 94/95 W124 US spec headlamps, <93 500E Euro spec headlamps and 94/95 Euro spec E500 headlamps? I'm particularly curious whether 94/95 E500 headlamps have driving lamps instead of fog lamps.

Anyone with part numbers?

Thanks for all responses.

500e/e500 lights

all of the w124 500's have a driving light in the headlight assembly vs 300/400's with a fog light.

i think there was a recent post w the part mumbers. try a "search" on euro lights and maybe try 500e euro lights also.

there is a ton of info here.

i just read your other post, i am using 80/100 watt bulbs and have not [knock on wood] had any problem with them.

welcome to mercedeshop, you'll never be the same...

I already did. I just wanted to make sure that I get the correct lamps.

Although I get a fairly decent discount from the dealer (roughly 35% for parts installed at the dealership, 25% for parts purchased outright--long story) it's still rather costly (if i get the wrong part).

The problem is, they 500E/E500 never made it to our shores so they are not intimately familiar with the parts. There are at most 3 examples of the 500Es here. They have standard 94/95 Euro lamps on inventory but aren't sure whether they are the same as the ones for the E500. I don't want to lose the driving lamp option.

It wasn't too clear on the post whether these Euro lamps are 94/95 E500 specific.

Thanks!

Thanks! Tell me about it! At first I was only intending to buy the 500E, now I'm looking at at least $9,000 worth of upgrades!

-RENNTech sway bar
-RENNTech transmission cooler
-RENNTech Air Cleaner
-RENNTech (or OEM, Euro spec) oil cooler
-RENNTech or other 1st gear start valve body
-RENNTech or other ASR defeat switch kit (hopefully using actual OEM dash mounted switch)
-94/94 upgrades (hood, grill, clear corners, tail lamps)
-Superchips (I'm a stocking dealer--its a side business)
-Timevalve Y Pipe
-Evo II wheels and Bridgestone Potenzas in 245/45x17 but I'm still debating on that one since the car came with staggered 18 inch AMG monoblocks.
-I'm also considering upgrading the door locks, keys (to the blade type) and alarm...but that's the subject of another post!

If anybody is interested, I have a single 80/100 watt H4 bulb to give away. Its blue tinted, Eurolite Xenon Crystal by Toucan Industries. I blew the other one and am using a much less blue bulb now, so if someone could use a spare, I'm willing to send it anywhere free of charge.
