1990 560sel brake bushings replaced

how much does it cost for someone to replace the brake support bushings? this isn't a diy project is it?

No such animal. There are no bushings in the W126's braking system, afaik.

I could be wrong,but he may be asking about the brake strut bushing or as I've also have heared it call the brake thrust bushing. Yes it is a diy job if you know your way around the front suspension a little. 1.5 to 2 hours a side would be a reasonable charge. Any 126 with 150k or more would probably need them.

It's a DIY job if you have a spring compressor so you can replace the lower control arm bushings for the rod, replace the L-Bracket bushings.

Then there are the sway bar bushings at the upper control arm and the bushings at the body mounts. Figure on new lower ball joints and upper control arms too. You might want new lower control arm bushings at the body too.

Then you have to get an alignment.

Well, you're in there so you might as well.

thanks guys brake bushings are what someone called them. i get a thumping sound when i hit the smallest bump, car has 300k on it i bought it last summer for $300.00 so a few grermlins aren't too bad.just love the benz, and very thankful for all the help you get from this site.
