722.6 Electronic transmission
Hello. I have a customer with a 1997 C280 that had a problem with the shifter alignment. I have adjuisted the shifter but found no change in recognizing/matching the gear shift selector with what the computer see from the tranny. I opened up the tranny and found the problem to be the little white plastic clip thats attached to the selector valve that slides inside of the valve body. Tried to source the part thru my dealer but they will only sell the complete valve body which means I will also have to change the computer to the new stlye. I just don't wan't to pay $1300 DOLLARS FOR A 10 CENT PLASTIC CLIP!! If anyone has a old valve body thats bad or good out of a electronic tranny please let me know ASAP!! Either by email or my phone# at 757-971-9506. Thanks in advance

Finally!!!
I have been through a similiar ordeal - although I am not a tech, or anything beyond an overoptimistic enthusiast.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=177808 http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=177973 Still arguing with all the people I should be listening to that I must use protocol for reset. Will undoubtedly spend far more time & money than merited. I'm a little stubborn that way. Anyway, during this process a sympathetic shop foreman turned his head while I dug through some discared valve bodies (I never wished I drove a truck more than that moment). I may have the part you are looking for. PM me with more specific ID. Also, check out the parts list from chrysler(Don't know if the C280 shares any trans parts with my CLK's 722.607,but I would not be surprised). http://www.gleamingedge.com/mirrors/Crossfire/Crossfire%20Service%20Manual.pdf Be patient, this is a huge file (80MB, 3K pages - but worth the wait). PM me with info on your clip. |
That dealer is an arse. You should go right over their heads and speak to MB USA direct, with a serious complaint.
I can't believe any manufacturer would allow its image to be tarnished by idiots like that. Trust me, when you complain to the manufacturer, dealers take notice. |
My dealer spent a couple grand and a few warranty visits to find the issue with my shifting was due to a "10 cent screw" being loose at the location you specify. Maybe he meant clip. Either way, they fixed the screw the old-fashioned way, and it's been doing ok for about a year and a half now.
