1989 300E loud hum sound near glove box
 

I have a 1989 300E and today when I got home there was a very load hum sound coming from or near the glove box. I thought this sound only came on when the car was on but I turned the car off and just put the battery power on and the sound is still there.

Does anyone have any idea what this sound could be.

It's the aspirator fan. It draws in air to measure the temp for the ACC.

See it in the photo below.

Is the aspirator fan easy to remove and install? Also I called the dealership and they said that my car does not have an aspirator fan. Is there another name for this part and does fast lane sell it?

Also called sampler blower motor, part#0008309608. I'm sure Fastlane sells it.

Is the aspirator fan or sampler blower motor hard to exchange out of my car and if not how is this done?

Remove the glove box and you can reach it.

Not that big a deal.
