I have a 94 E320 wagon. I have 80k on a rebuilt transmission. The transmission goes into reverse and shifts well for gears 1-3, but will not go into 4th. I have been driving the car with the shifter at the 3 position around town and the car drives great. Transmission fluid and filter changes every 30k The fluid level is correct and looked clean. I went ahead and changed the fluid and filter and there was no metal in the pan. any ideas where I should look next. I don't want to put another transmission in there so soon.

I was looking to buy a used one but it won't go into 4ht gear. Did you ever solve your problem? If so, how?

I posted the same question two days ago. Does yours stick in 3rd, or does it shift to nothing? My shifts to nothing.

I'm hoping it is a vacuum problem.

Any guidance out there?

I never could figure out what was going on with it. My indie has no clue either. It is out of warranty and he doesn't think I should put a new one in until this one fails. It is my wife's car and she mainly drives it around town and so I just told her to keep it in third and not worry about it.
