Exclamation True experts know: does a '94 SL600 have a OVP or not?

Thanks so much for your post. I also have a 300sl but to cold (Nebraska) to go check the OVP relay on that car. After your post, I checked the area you suggested, no OVP in sight! Arthur (see my current thread responses) says a '94 SL600 was not equipped with an OVP. I suspect, pretty soon, heavy hitting Mercedes specialists, like Arthur, will chime in on this issue that needs to be resolved once and for all. Either an 1994 SL 600 has an OVP or it does not. True experts know this answer. Thanks again for your help.

Ray

I'm confused - thanks so much for what post? You checked the area who suggested? You have a very rare car - I'm sure there are many true experts who have no clue whether your car has an OVP.

Red face True experts know: Does a '94 SL600 have an OVP or not?

Sorry about that. I got a little confused between posting in the tech help and the 129 forums. One of the previously posted authors had a '91 300 sl. He noted that the overvoltage relay for his car was located in the engine compartment near the passenger firewall under some plastic covers. I checked this area in my car. No OVP relay.

You are absolutely correct. I was totally presumptuous that "true experts" would know whether or not this specific and rare car had an OVP relay. Thanks for setting me straight on this complex issue!

That chassis does use an OVP relay and it is located behind the panel at the rear firewall.

If you use the same Parts Catalog [at the top of this page-BUY PARTS], you will notice there is no OVP relay listed for your chassis [ 129.076]..that is b/c there is none.
Plug in your chassis model/year and then hit 'Chassis/Body Electrical" ..
