SL500 Hood release
Really embarrased. Purchased my new 1997 SL500 this week with out owners manual. Pulled back on inside hood release and hood only came up about half inch. Can`t locate release lever under grille. How do I get this thing to open. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You will find it right under the star in the grille,,, in the star actually.

Hood release
On my 1999 SL500 there is a pull tab handle located in the grill "star". It may be necessary to lift the hood slighty when you pull on the handle. Your 1997 may be similar.
