most miles on a w126?

Just wondering who on this board has the most miles on their w126? Does anybody have 300,000 or 400,000. Will like to keep mine for this long. Only 126,000 at present time.

I have a close Friend of mine that had 426,000 on his diesel.I think you will get what you wish out of it,They are rebuild able.when the problems become insurmountable then give up!Suppose I am saying It will be what you want it to be.JNT:greedy:

Well, I have 151k. Hope to go another 151k.
Thanks, and God Bless,
Dave.

I now have 280K+ on my 300SE. Engine is strong as ever. Suspension is tight up front, but the rear needs rebuilt. Steering also needs to be refreshened.

I will probably not put any more money into it. I think I am ready to try a different model as I've had this one for almost 10 years.

I'm sure the diesels will outlast the V8s......inline 6s are probably in the middle. I'm sure the diesels could go a million miles if you really wanted them to, but I have never heard of a V8 running more than 300k. If you have, I'd love to know!

300SE with 215,000, still going very strong. Body and suspension still in great shape, engine feels smoother than my 190e 2.6 which has far less miles.

Re expected mileage for a 450/560 V8, note the comment in this article: http://fly.hiwaay.net/~gbf/107/rt.html

Seems a truly well-maintained version ought to go a long, long time.

300k miles isn't that much. I have seen quite a few W126's in the 400k, 500k, and 600k mile ranges. They start to get pretty sloppy at that point, nothing lasts forever.

Are we talking gas/diesel or both? I know of a 380SEC pushing 500K...

My buddy Barry has over half a million miles on his 1983 380SEC AMG. The car is showroom nice.

I've seen some high mile 300SDs, 400k on a few. Same with 300SDLs.

The Bent 8s only in the 220-300k with my eyes, I know there is a member here that has a customer with over 700k or something nuts on a M116 in a 420SEL, stock bottom end.

I'd be more concerned about the trans and suspension with high miles than basic maintenance of the motor (oil changes, timing chain, guides).

I have 269,400 on my 85' 380SE...... getting tired though. Still no oil leakage or usage, which amazes me.

I think with proper care, your 500SEL would have no problems going 400K+.

( I had to update.... I noticed I had more miles than I thought tonight).

I have 306,000 on my SD.

you see me on here a lot with questions. i bought a 560sel last may with 300,000 on it. just replaced the headgaskets, timing chain and rails. runs great when up to running temp still sluggish when cold but love the car.
