Couple of leaks that need fixing!
 

I'm looking for radiator fluid leak..it appears that I have multiple leaks..

#1 power steering leak. I think this is because I filled to the rim and it is adjusting to the level it needs. There area no other apparant leaks that I can find except on the ground below.

#2 radiator coolant leak. I simply can't find the leak on top but there is definitely a puddle of leakage. I did change the thermostat a few weeks ago but I would think all of the spill would've dried by now. All hoses from the top are clean. The water pump appears dry..there are no apparant cracks to the radiator unless it i at the bottom, and I can't see that..tech didn't notice anything last week when he was looking for the leak..he thought it was probably spillover from thermostat job.

Any ideas of where this is coming from?

I'm guessing you are referring to the 300TE? Places I've experienced:

The radiator neck at the inlet side where the hose is connected to the coolant pump. Common failure point. But at your mileage, I would assume you've had the replacement with the reinforced sleeved neck.

Coolant pump seals blown perhaps? Usually, when it goes, it's an Exxon/Valdez type of leak.

Coolant tank or overflow tank is cracked.

Plastic connector hose to the heater box by the firewall...a break there would have massive coolant leakage though...

Power steering pump seals are worn. Rebuild kits are available.

You will need to put a pressure tester on it when it's cold and the leaks should be apparent.

It appears to be the water pump. I picked up a new one. Can anyone recommend a tech here in Charlotte that is affordable? This is an expensive job! Wow..the first guy said $550 (got him to $400 because he's done so much other work for me). Luckily I got a great deal on the car but have experienced that everytime I fix something something else goes! I'll be about 4300 in it now (after the water pump). purchased the car for $1900. Is there anyone else around here that could be recommended?

Mine just went where the hose from the head connects. Is it all one piece back to heater core, or just a way of getting from one side of firewall to the other. Lucky I was almost to work when it occured. It was indeed a massive leak, but cut off car as soon as saw steam, so only lost about 2 quarts coolant. Was able to put hose back on enough to get wife to take home. Will be investigating this evening, but looks like a pain to get to.

It takes anywhere from 3 hours to 5 hours to do a water pump.

I have done two on the 124's and at a methodical but steady pace it takes me five hours. I suppose I could rush a bit and knock off 45 minutes, but that's about it

I would guess a tech who has done a number of them could get it down in the 3 hour range.

If your tech is in the middle and charges 100 dollars an hour... you've got your number.
