Has this happened to anyone else ?
When taking a fairly fast corner, if the sun visor is down and blocking the sun from my side window, it comes swinging back across it's arc (like the boom on a sailboat) hitting me in the head. No frictional resistance, it seems. I have tried tightening the screws on the mounting plate base, but that doesn't seem to affect the amount of rotational "free play" in the mechanism. Is it just worn with age (91 560) or is there another place to tighten the assembly ? Thanks ! BCA |
take out visor..perhaps tightly wind some electrical tape over the plastic bushing and then also the metal part that sticks out the end about 1/4", wrap it really tight with say 5 or 6 layers then reinstall to see if that does it for you

I had that problem coming about too, but it got so bad the visor started falling out. I took the piece out of the headliner and found it had cracked. I asked the dealer for just that little plastic piece, it couldn't cost too much, but they only sold the whole visor assembly for too many hundred dollars, but I didn't check the Parts Shop. Gluing it didn't hold. What I did was wrap some copper wire around it to take the loading, soldier it to hold it together, but not too much to melt the plastic, then glued it to hold the wire in place, just making sure the bulk would still fit back into the hole.
