Trani problems
Hi all,
New here...... I own a 1986, 190D 5 speed. It has 296,000 miles on it. Up until recently my transmission I can't shift into reverse. Prior to this it was slightly difficult to persuade it into reverse. Before I take it to the shop, any thoughts on troubleshooting? Internal gear issues or linkage? I hate having to park so I don't have to back up.....funny sight pushing the car back wards in the parking lot, but at 40 MPG running on free jet fuel it's a no brainer. Can anyone give me suggestions where I can start troublshooting my trani before I cry uncle and take it to a MB specialist? Thanks, Ed Triguy450 |
more people would help u if u wrote it as being a Transmission or Tranny problem. But Trani? what's that? is that where u put air into your tires? seriously i'm confused....
p.s. I had this same problem on a c-class, it was the valve body inside the transmission or something...don't worry its cheap to replace, parts and labor only came out to $1700 with friends discount. |
this is five speed .get it up in air and have a good look at the rods on side of gearbox.see if the bushings aren't wasted.if they're okay then you will need to have the shifter assembly out and rebuild it.
