1991 300D 115K miles:
I bought my car used, and its been like this since then. At night, when I turn the driving lights on, the dashboard is lighted ok, but there is no light by the gear stick. so I have to feel my way to move the stick to proper position (its an automatic). Is there supposed to be a light there ? and if yes, do I change it by lifting wood trim ? Thanks a bunch Andreas |
Yes: The wood comes off in a manner similiar to that described in the stereo removal article on early w124 cars, not sure about the later one. The shifter light was discussed in the thread http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?threadid=16579
There are a number of other threads under shift light, shift bulb, center console trim, etc. Hope this helps |
I took my bulb out, went to the dealer, and got a new one, took all of 5 minutes ot pop it out and put the new one in.
Of course the dealer could not find the map light bulb for the map light, but then again, I should probably look up the part number myself. :) hehe Alon |
Amazing... 15 mins (including the trip to the auto store), and $2.70 later, I have light in my mercedes gear stick !
I am ashamed to say that it had been dark for that long ! Thanks you all ! |
