You too can get a top-end rebuild...then after you pay for it, there will be no more green left to be able TO envy!!!

Great write-up, thanks! Good to know of another good Indy in the DFW area. I will do this job myself when the time comes, but it's good to know this guy is out there...

Stay tuned!
I will start another thread sometime this summer when the transmission swap becomes reality.
I have a sweet-performing M104 coupled to a badly slipping tranny that no minor R & R has been able to cure. Rather than do a rebuild, I shopped for a decent used one. This one has 100K and I picked it up for $150. Indie says he will at the very least do the reverse clutch plates and new seals. BTW, the CLK in the foreground is the wife's...this week, after outlaying what exceeded the cost of the M104 rebuild fixing her ragtop issues, I expect not to hear any gripes concerning my W124 project expenditures...

G-Benz,
Have you noticed any oil consumption after the repair. andreas |

After the first couple of weeks (250 mi/wk), the dipstick read about a quart low. I topped it off, and when i checked this week, it seems a bit off of the full mark.
Unfortunately, I don't have a benchmark as to oil consumption prior to the head gasket replacement, as the leakage was massive then. The garage floor is dry for the first time since ownership (at 72K), so that's a good sign. I would venture some blow-by, and perhaps some other sealing surfaces could use reconditioning.

Hey G-Benz,
How did your Indy get the piton tops so clean? Did he take them out? bpaz_ph |
