I Got A Floppy One
I was working on my 420SEL today since the weather here is now nice and warm. I took off the cam covers to replace the oil tubes and the clips. The old tubes were quite loose and I didn't want them popping out and destroying the cam bearings etc. Actually, I got the oil tubes from a defunct 380SEL I saw in the junk yard and put new clips on them. While the covers were off, I looked at my chain and lack of guides, I say lack of quides because they are missing but there is part of one on the lower side pin.
The bad thing is that the chain on the driver side is really loose so I'll get new pins and guides and do the deed. Then I'll check the offset for chain wear. I'll probably have to get a new chain and tensioner. Along with a disconnected fuel pump, vacuum leaks and now the loose chain it's one more reason this car runs so poorly. After the guides etc, new cap, rotor and wires.

Today, I took care of the right hand side, or passenger, guides. Part of the missing short guide was found laying on top of the tensioner. I'll post pics soon, I took a bunch.
