123 Cabin Temperature Sensor?
Well, I have been attacking the climate control system lately, and have successfully replaced pin that connects the center vent pod to the center vent flap with a small machine screw, and in the process I had to remove the rubber piece that connects the duct to the external vents and the cabin temperature sensor.
The sensor, when I went to put it back in after I got the rubber piece almost completely on (is there some trick I'm missing to getting it on?), was snapped in half. I have both halves, and I will post up some pictures of it in a few minutes, but I clearly need a replacement. After looking it over, I can find no part number, and searching the parts catalog returns nothing that resembles it. First, can I solder this or is the circuit board somehow involved in sensing the temperature? Second, where can I get this sensor? |
I'd get a replacement at the junkyard. The one by my house has several of them, and they would most likely charge me $5 or less.

Well, I live between Houston and Galveston in Texas, and I am not aware of any junk yards around here.
|
After a closer look, soldering it is definetly out because the circuit board that snapped in half is part of the sensor (pics at http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s138/arew264/Benz%20Climate%20Control%20Thermocouple/ ).
I really need to get this sensor somewhere. |
What year?
Link to pictures doesn't work, but I assume you are looking for the newer style ( center of dash ).
Fastlane shows it as temporarily unavailable. Jim Harris will have a used one. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=123964 |
This is for a 1984 300d Turbo.
I have emailed the mercedesshop guys in hopes of finding a new/remanufactured one, but if they don't have it, this is where I'll turn next. No offense meant to anyone, its just that I tend to trust new parts more than used ones for obvious reasons. |
Okay, sorry to rez this topic, but I got a reply from the mercedesshop guys that pointed me to this http://catalog.worldpac.com/mercedesshop/sophio/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&cookieid=21R130L9521R130UKN&year=1984&make=MB&model=300-DT-001&category=All&part=Heater+Temp+Sensor
I think I got the wrong part. Is this correct? It definitely does not go where the old one went. |
You need this one:

Erghhhh...
Oh well, its my fault for not being specific enough. |
It's lasted this long....why not go for a recycled sensor (junkyard)? The sensor is relatively easy to get to. Maybe Radio shack can help.
