03 C 240 will not start
Hi everyone,
Yesterday I got into my car and the car started right up when I left from work. Went about a mile from work to have someone make a copy and when i get back into the car nothing. No steering column release noise or anything. Had someone pick me up and take me around for some errans. Put the key back into the ignition nothing still cannot get the key to turn much less start the car. I finally get agitated and start beating the key put it into the ignition and it starts right up, but I had no command controls and my tach, fuel gauge, speedometer, and ODO were not working. Kinda wish I could keep the ODO that way but I need help. I have gone 2 days without a working car. I think it may be the key but any suggestions would help. Also the lock, unlock, trunk, and panic are not working on the key and I did replace the batteries. The key is also in rather bad shape. thanks |

Of course you need to try a new key first....The EIS (electrionic ignition switch) is somewhat $$$$

don't jam anything in a Mercedes and turn hard. You are just going to break it and be left with a heavy repair bill.
they aren't italian. |

The car still shifts like ***** but actually the one time i got the car to start after the key problem it shifted smooth as glass but then again I had no tach, fuel, or speedo to find out what was causing this excellent shifting. LOL
