1985 500 SEC USA version ENGINE STALLS

i am having problems with my 1985 500 SEC USA version. I can be driving with my foot on the gas and the car will lose power and go dead. then it is hard to start but if i let it sit for few minutes then it cranks right up. i don't have problems in the morning starting the only time it gives me a problem starting is after it dies ...

My old 380SEL did this ........ignition module fixed it. The old one would get hot, the when it cooled it would start right up. Check it out.....

I have a 1984 500SEC USA version. I did not have the lose of power or stalling issue. Just hard starting when hot. I have spent hours combing this forum for clues. Sounds to me like you may be having a fuel delivery problem. A lot of talk about bad fuel relay which cuts out when engine compartment is hot. This is located in the fuse box next to the firewall. Maybe you have a tired fuel pump. I think on the 85 there are two fuel pumps though. Not sure. I have only one. I replaced the pump, fuel filter, and accumulator. Cured some of the problem of hard starting for me.
Someone on this forum said have a person turn the ignition on(without starting the car) while you have your hand on the pump. If there is power getting to the pump you should fell the vibration as it kicks in. If not check fuse. If not the fuse, it's the relay. Good luck:kid:
