Fuel MPG Question for a '94 E320 wagon

Can any of you guys tell me the REALISTIC MPG that your E320 gets? We are deciding on a '94 E320 wagon that is in GREAT condition, 115,000 miles, Head gasket done (oil leak problem). Thanks, Chris

All gas Benz get crummy fuel mileage. Don't let it be a deal buster.

15 around town, 23 - 25 on the road.

I had a 95 sedan, which I drove primarily on the highway. It got 29 mpg.

City can mean a lot of different things to different people, but assuming most of your city driving is still in motion, I would guess 22 mpg.

Based on all I know, I would say 23-25 on the highway too. Combined of 20.

I don't know what part of Calif. you live in, but mileage depends on a lot of variables. I live in the hills near LA, a lot of traffic signals and hills. Driving conservatively, I got around 17mpg in town and 23-27 on the road. Undoubtably
be worse if I used it as a hotrod.
I really liked my '94 wagon and was loath to part with it, but traded up to my daughter's '99 wagon and just as satisfied.
If you can handle an average of 20 mpg and would like a wagon, go for it.

On my E320 sedan, I averaged 21.5 mpg in mixed city / freeway driving.

When I did 100% freeway driving, like going to Las Vegas, I routinely got 25-26 mpg.

Thanks you Guys.... We have a Toyota 4runner 2wd and it only gets 17mpg. The E320 has ALOT more power. Chris

Ah,,, power. That is what I love about the wagon. It has VERY decent power, and my wifes' 400E will only beat it by a tad. Ask me how I know.:D

I agree Pete!!! I was VERY suprised at the amount of GO power the car has. It runs right with my Cummins powered Dodge and it is juiced up to 375hp.
Other than the oil leakage problem at the head, I have heard that the 24 valve, twincam E320 engine is pretty bullet proof.
I do miss her old '84 300TDT.... I almost wish her new wagon had the old 5 cyl turbo diesel engine.

I absolutely loved my E320. I still miss it, even though I enjoy driving the E430.

Once you get past the engine wiring harness and the head gasket, the M104 is surely one of the best engines Mercedes ever built. I'm sure the engine itself will last longer than you'll probably own the car.

Keep your tires pumped up correctly and your EFI system clean.

I personally keep my tires pumped about 5psi over the spec, seems to help.

I would never ever buy a Mercedes with a Head gasket done. Get it and start your nightmare with oil leaks and hot temperature.

Our 95 e320 wagon gets 26mpg highway at 80mph. My wife just LOVES the car.

I DO appreciate what you have to say...I am only buying it because I personally know the guy that has done the work and He is VERY meticulous.
Otherwise, I would stay FAR away. Thanks for the input!!
