94 C280 Torque Converter ID help...
 

Hi All,

This appears to be the torque converter, my question is where does it get drained? What size/type tool is needed?

How do I rotate the TC if the front wheels are raised and the rears on the pavement?

Thats it.

You need to rotate the crank bolt on the front of the engine.

Might be better if the rear wheels were raised instead of the front.

Might want to pull the plugs to make it easier.

Might be better to have one person underneath watching for the bolt to appear (think it's an allen key) or just turn a little bit at a time and keep checking for it.

Make sure the car is secured!

If you cant raise the rear wheels... I'm not sure, but I think you can rotate it with the car in neutral but...

Make sure the care is secure (ie chalk the wheels well and test by shoving the car) This is a dangerous way to do this and you should really raise the rear wheels instaed of the front!... if it will even work.

I'll try and look for the bolt that turns the engine... I had a feeling the rears have to be off the ground. I'll do what you suggest and use a mirror to watch for the drain...

no need to raise rear tires, just have the tranny in park the torque converter should spin with the engine. If you remove the spark plugs, you can easily turn the engine with a ratchet. Lift the front (or side) of the car to give you room to work. There will be 6 bolts that connect the torque converter to the flywheel. You may need to keep the engine form spinning to free the torque bolts.

You just remove the 5mm hex head converter drain plug and let the ATF drain out ..
When it stops draining, you replace the drain plug....
