1992 190E Slooooow out of first Gear

only occurs when cold, winds out for considerable time then works fine ,usually once or twice and that is it. Ideas?

Design..MB started catalyst warm-up in 1990, they delay COLD weather shifts
to allow the cat to come on line quicker.

M104 - 1993 280e

Its also holds in gear until about 3000 rpm when first started cold. Is this normal for this model?

OK , now it is hot outside and it is getting worse, staying in 1st for a looooooong time then into second, any ideas?

Are you saying the engin is warmed up (80 C) when it is doing this?

Outside temp shouldn't matter... only coolant temp.

P.S. Driving hard when cold causes excessive wear on the engine.

Perhaps you are a tad low on tranny fluid?

I wouldn't worry about it unless it's happening above 80 C.
