The test shown in the posted test is totally irrelevant to an engine functioning normally.
Remember guys: The success of an engine oil on the market is only and totally the results of the work done by the marketing guys, not the chemists and engineers who have worked on it.

And I will go futher to say..ball/point loading happens nowhere in an engine.
Engineers would not design such a stupid point of contact component.

The closest to a ball/point load is in the transmission and different oil is used in this case. There is no scuff loading that translates into the same psi loading the ball test represents....even the cam/lifter interface is different metalergically than the components used in the ball test....perhaps the U/J's might come close but they are subject to very small movement and are needle roller construction.

Representing an oils quality by this method is like comparing a parachutes performance to free fall, by testing it underwater.
Anyone won over by this kind of distorted ball demonstration is not aware of how an engine oil system operates.
