Thinking outside the box, oils
 

I am thinking about trying this... maybe just in the lawnmower, then in my car.

You can also purchase the oil used in 747 jet turbine engines. Rather inexpensive...

Not too expensive. A nice summer grade.

What makes it different?

$20 for a gallon of fully synthetic oil.

That is not the same as the 747 oil, which is rarely changed, so I would think in a much cooler car engine it would never break down... just top off and replace the filter.

That oil is not used in jet engines. It is intended for air-cooled aircraft piston engines.

There are other aircraft oils that work just as well but cost much less. Much testing has been done on aircraft oils. The concensus is that straight-weight dino oils work better and the engines last longer.

That Aeroshell oil has an additive that came around in about 1978. Lycoming came out with the H2AD engine that was notorious for scuffing/galling the camshaft. The additive was supposed to help that.

It is SEMI-synthetic, not FULLY-synthetic.

My question is, why put in your car? You'll be wasting your money and potentially voiding your warranty.

The lawn mower? Have at it. But still, why waste the money?

Yea, I lost the link to the 747 oil, that was just an example of the higher abilities of oils out there.

There was a fully synthetic I found, must have used the wrong link. But it was about the same price.

I think my warrantee was up about 250,000 miles ago.
