Help- 98 E430 CPS Replacement

Hi-

I am having a stall at red lights / occasional difficulty starting (no start on first try second try usually good). Planning to replace the CPS- 2 questions:

1. Is there a specific part number I should look for? Mercedesshop doesn't have it in stock.
2. Roughly where on my car is this located?- 1998 E430.

Thanks

For the '99 it's 0031532728. It is in stock here - it's just listed as "Reference Sensor", which you might mention when you place your order.
There are two different ones depending on your engine number, as you'll see.

Nice-- Thanks. Stuipd question-- is the engine number the same as the VIN? If not, how do I find this?

The engine number is not the same as the VIN (vehicle identification number). The engine number plus all other pertinent numbers are located on the vehicle data card which comes with the vehicle or can be located through the EPC (electronic parts catalog) (I hate unreferenced acronyms) from the VIN.
