I was thinking about buying maybe a Carlsson cam for my E320. BUT, will adding just a cam really do very much performance wise? I am also adding a Carlsson muffler, but mainly for looks. Will the benefits outweigh the cost of the cam plus installation? BTW: about how long does it take a shop to install a new cam? TIA

Most cams only add 15-20 HP to a stock engine. More radical cams will do more but, then you get into piston/ valve clearence issues and such. You also have to decide if the cam will serve the purpose that you need. More HP, low, mid, or high range torque?

I really didn't think it would do much, if anything. I figured maybe 5HP or so. I thought it would need to interact with other modified parts to add a lot of power. I will probably be getting something along the lines of an E430 4MATIC within the next year, anyway. Thx guys
