2001 CLK 320 crank sensor replacement

Can someone explain the procedure for replacing the crank sensor (reference sensor) in a 2001 CLK 320. I plan on doing this over the weekend ,so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike B

Remove bolt, remove sensor, install new sensor, install bolt.

On your V6, it is not very easy to get to. I think my 2003 E320 wagon has the exact same engine as yours. The torx bolt cannot be seen. It can only be felt in the unbolting/bolting procedures. However, your right arm/hand should be able to reach the plug, the sensor, and the bolt.

Do you reach it from above or below?

Simple in theory, difficult in practice. You need small hands and a dose of good luck. You'll need female torx socket, IIRC E8. On a 2000 C280, it is on the bell housing, by the drivers firewall. All done by feel, only from above.
