Fake Jap/China parts made to look like OEM ???
I have received this part twice, with diff. part numbers.
The parts are identical, and they don't fit. The leads are too short. This lead/length problem seems very strange. I can't understand why MB or Behr would make a part with leads too short to fit the original application. I wonder if these are Jap or China parts with counterfeit Kraut boxes--fakes, with the part and the packaging made to look like the orig. MB part ? ...or has socialist Germany deteriorated so much that it just doesn't give a damn ? See link: http://www.panchogun.com/FVWebPhotos/FV-Cars-CLK-Repair-Blower-Part-Prob.jpg |

Well OEM is not necessarily OE. An easy, but not conclusive test of your theory would be to take a look at the corrugated, i.e. Tear off a piece of one flat surface, called the liner. Does it look really junky and soft? Kind of Grey versus brown? If yes, then it is likely corrugated made in China.
Other than that, who knows, send them back. Steve |

It just sounds like you got the wrong part. A different part number means the part is different. If you get the same part number and the parts are still different, then your conspiracy theory will hold more weight.

switch leads...
Looking at your pics, the wires just pull off...why not just take the longer original wires and transplant them onto the new part and quit worrying about it? As long as it works I do not see spending the extra effort to find out BEHR has bad QC or that someone in China would counterfeit an auto part.
my $0.02 .... John

People need to know that the reason for different part numbers is because they change over time as one part number supercedes another.
There exists a huge problem with fake parts made in China, complete with fake boxes. As an example, the local Cadillac dealer has mentioned a huge issue with fake AC/Delco sparkplugs causing lots of engine performance problems. As a former antiques dealer, I can to you that fakes exist at the twenty dollar level of value and up..... to infinity. |

I would think that a Japanese made replacement would be better then the original German made part.

I'll bet that in 10 years we'll say the same about a Chinese part.

Probably. The Chinese are quite capable of making high quality parts, its the manufactures that spec the cheap crap. That’s why a lot of that stuff is being made in Vietnam now.
