I am trying to solve an issue with a mates 1991 E260. (Gasoline)
The problem is that the car will start and run, but if driven even a short distance, will cutout. It wont immediatly restart ( engine will turn over, but won't fire), but if left to sit for half hour or so, it will start. The vechicle was recently shipped from Europe to the US, where in Europe, the fuel quality was suspect. My first instinct says that it is a fuel starvation problem. So I want to look at the fuel filter and fuel pump for blockages and or low pressure. I have worked on many cars in my life, but having never worked on an E260 before, I am somewhat ignorant as to the layout of the vechicle. Could someone point out where is, and how to gain access to, the fuel filter and fuel pump. I had a quick look yesterday but couldn't see it. This doesn't mean it wasn't sitting right in front of me :-) Any help would be appreciated. As in all things in life, I am happy to be wrong.. Well that is what my wife thinks anyway. |
