Are these transmissions interchangeable?
 

Lucky me, I have joined the group of members you have had our reverse gears bite the dust.:eek: Are ’93 transmissions interchangeable with ‘94-’95 tranny’s? All three years have the M104 engine, so my thinking is that they are. Anyone know for sure?

Better be more specific about what 1993 transmission. Even 300E had two different transmission - 722.4xx in the 2.8s and 722.369 in the 3.2s.

Sorry, It is a 722.369 in the 300E. When I look up the VIN this is what I get:

300E
Engine 104992 12 021099
Transmission 722369 03 855585

E320
Engine 104992 12 059219
Transmission 722369 04 000842

So I am 90% sure that the are interchangeable, I just not sure what the numbers after 722369 mean.

Two .369s - it's gotta work. I'm not sure what the numbers are either but it looks like model year followed by the number of the individual transmission.
