210 ball joints and squeaks

02 E320 4Matic, 45K mi.

Dealer replaced the ball joints (was surprised a car of this mileage would need that, but they insisted it did). Now I have a loud squeak occurring on left 90 degree turns - it happens near the point of maximum turn or at the beginning of straightening out. It could also be happening with right turns, but in my parking garage, where it's heard the best, it's all 90 degree left turns. Could squeak and ball joint R&R be related?

Also have another squeak - right front wheel area, frequency coincident with wheel rpm. I think it's brakes; sometimes the squeak stops when braking, and other times if it's not already squeaking I will get the same squeak when braking. It was only occassional before the ball joint replacement, immediately after that work it became pretty much constant.

Just trying to figure out what these might be and what to tell the dealer.

Thanks -

Your best bet is to see if there is a shop foreman or a technician available to ride with you. This is the best way to get your problem fixed. Sometimes it is hard to determine what a customer is talking about without having them around. And sometimes we fix the wrong squeaks and rattles(ones you didn't even know you had). Call your dealer and set up an appointment and request a road test with someone.

why were it replaced in the first place? not to alarm you but if they are
defective, and if they break loose while driving at a fast clip it could cause perilous result. don't ask me how i found this out.

Thanks, I'm a bit concerned too. I'm not driving it much anyway because the brake squeak drives me nuts. The ball joints were originally replaced because they said there was play in the front wheels. They'll look at it next week and take a ride with me to hear the squeaks.
