E500/M119 Water pump hose
Hi all,
I cannot seem to get the short 90 degree hose from the water pump to the thermostat installed. It is short, stiff, and my hands are bleeding away. After 3 hours of trying I cannot get it on. Any tips or advice - I'm desperate. Thanks in advance. Steve

Done this 10 times, Steve. The only way to do it [I know of] is to pull off the thermostat, put on the hose, then re-bolt up the therm. If anyone knows of a better way then I'm all ears

Thanks for the tip, but I got it done with lots of foul language and brute force. Hopefully there will be no more issues and I will not have to relive this nightmare!!

I just did it and all I used was silicon spray on the inside of the hose to help the hose slip over the fittings. As mentioned above, it does take a little force to slide the hose in, but it can be done.

Yes, it is a PITA.
I just got the hose ends all slippery with coolant and muscled it on...bleeding knuckles are obligatory ! Done it twice actually on my M119...each time I forgot to install it on the thermo housing first which is probably the best/easiest way. |
