190E Water pump replacement DIY questions
I have a few questions about replacing a water pump for a 190E 2.6. They are as follows:
1. What is the best way to get off the pulley that is attached to the pump? 2. It looks like there is 3 bolts that attach the pump to the block. One needs to be loosened by an allen wrench and is the the front. The other two are hidden in tight quarters in the back. Any special tools/techniques needed to get at these three bolts? 3. Thus far, I have removed the belt, all hoses, radiator fan, and fan shroud. I am working on the pulley. Is there anything else that I need to remove. It looks like I can get at it once the pulley is removed? 4. Any other tips/special tools? thanks, John |
Put the belt back on and loosen the pulley bolts while the belt holds it.
I believe the are four bolts attaching the pump. All your questions are good ones. If you will do a search you will find them answered over and over. :book: |
Did that job last week-end along with the Water pump, belt tensioner, belt shock absorber and seal front engine cover.
The pulleys are attached by 3 X 13mm bolts. The easiest way is to loosen the bolts with the belt still in place. Same for the power steering pulley. Now, have fun with the bottom/rear water pump bolt. It take small baby hands to get into that little crevasse to get access to this bolt. Thys system is not the most brilliant system Mercedes has designed. |
