Keys do not turn NEW cylinder!
I had ordered a new ignition lock cylinder from *********************** and the keys supplied with the cylinder do not work (turn) the cylinder! Has anyone out there had a situation like this? The car is a 1990 300E.
I thought it would be a good idea to replace the ignition cyl due to it working rough. Tia Michael |
Send it back. I'd order one from the dealer with VIN cut keys, would probably work better...

Good luck, sorry to agree with the expensive option, but it's the best way ~Nate |
I would just get the cylinder from the dealership so it's keyed to your vin. However, I believe that most dealers will not sell it outright... you have to have them install it.

Michael, you need to fax or show your registration to the MB dealer before they will order a new ignition lock cylinder. That's the best way to go ... no problems ... high quality replacement.

Go to, or send fax with vehicle registration to your local MB dealership.
Ask for key and barrel assembly. Takes about 5 to 8 days. Most sets are made up in Dallas Tx. You will get VIN specific key and barrel. Then you need two small pins to remove the hardened /cover lock assembly. Installation at dealership not required.http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5623928] . |
