intake valves tapping '88 190e 2.3 8v

Hi,

Well I'm starting to think my failing emmisions is due to some valve tapping on the intake side. It almost sounds like all the intake valves are tapping. Could this be an oil passage blockage? The insides look pretty clean. Should I use a can of motor flush to clean things out, or just change oil every few hundred miles?
